Carentan, liberated by the 101st Airborne Division on June 12, 1944, will host the first European screening of the documentary “A Rendez-Vous with Destiny”, based on the book “Three of the Last Screaming Eagles” by Lieutenant Colonel Jos Groen.
Meet us on Thursday, July 22 at 8pm at the Movie Theater le Cotentin to attend the screening of “A Rendezvous with Destiny”. English version.
A RENDEZVOUS WITH DESTINY:
This documentary richly, powerfully, and often intensely depicts the wartime experiences of Jim “Pee Wee” Martin, Dick Klein, and Dan McBride, three paratroopers in the 101st Airborne Division in World War II, also known as the Screaming Eagles. Told almost exclusively in their own words and with many never-before-seen details, this film tells the story of how these men grew up during the Great Depression, describes their demanding parachute training in the United States, and details their wartime experiences. It is an immersion into the brutal battles fought by these young Americans against the Germans in Normandy, their second combat jump in the Netherlands during Operation Market Garden, as well as their terrible battle in Belgium during the epic battles fought in the cold and brutal winter of the Ardennes.
▪️ IN THE PRESENCE OF AMERICAN VETERANS:
